Days and nights

People often look at autism as a disability. Oh how wrong they are. Autism is a different ability. I’ve read and heard from others that most kids with autism are super smart and they have this one special talent they are amazing at. I have yet to discover Chandler’s, but I can tell you he is very smart. I wrote out a word for him one time, because he asked me to and now he can spell it on his own. He can do things most kids in kindergarten can’t do yet and for that I am very proud, but then he does things to remind me he is as much a normal child as anyone else. So he comes up to me one day and says “mommy, I think tooth falling out, do they have teeth at the hospital?” His first loose tooth 🥰

So, I explained to him that everyone’s baby teeth will fall out and a new tooth will grow in its place. Then I told him about the tooth fairy. He seemed less concerned after our talk.

At night now he gets a books and asks me to read to him. Ever since he was a baby, when he first learned to talk, he always hated being read to. I don’t know if it’s because he had been read to so much since daycare or if it’s because he is learning to read himself but he loves being read to now.
