Life on the spectrum

I always knew my child was different from other kids his age. He is super smart and learns very quickly, but I soon learned that the older he got the harder it was for him to stay focused. When I read more about the spectrum I learned that I had to completely change my way of teaching him. He knew his alphabet and could count to 30 before head start. After he started school he began having issues with focusing and sitting still. I learned that when teaching him new things I had to think outside of the box to get him to be interested in what I was teaching him. Kids with autism like a lot of bright colors. My son especially likes flash cards! So whenever I had the chance I was making him flash cards to teach him new things. He also loves music! So if I can make a fun song out of it he’ll love it! It’s definitely been challenging but researching different things and also getting advice from other parents on the spectrum has made this roller coaster less scary!
